  • Depending on the patient's specific needs, excess skin, fat, and muscle tissue may be removed or repositioned to achieve the desired outcome.

  • Upper eyelid surgery can address hooded or drooping eyelids and by removing the excess skin the whole area will look very fresh and rejuvenated. For ladies this is quite rewarding as they can use make up much easier but even for older males or females there is a massive relief, as the excess skin can affect the vision field.

  • Lower eyelid surgery can target under-eye skin excess, bags or puffiness, while it can tighten up the whole lid (canthopexy)

  • In some cases, a combination of both upper and lower eyelid surgery may be recommended to achieve comprehensive rejuvenation and symmetry.

Recovery from blepharoplasty

  • This typically involves a brief downtime, during which patients may experience mild swelling, bruising, and discomfort. However, these side effects generally subside within a week or two, and most individuals can resume their normal activities shortly thereafter.

  • Results of blepharoplasty are long-lasting, providing patients with a refreshed and more youthful appearance that can enhance their overall confidence and self-esteem.

Potential Risks and Complications

  • While blepharoplasty is generally considered safe, it carries certain risks and potential complications.

  • These can include temporary discomfort, swelling, bruising, and numbness around the surgical site, which typically resolve within a few weeks.

  • In rare cases, patients may experience infection, bleeding, adverse reaction to anesthesia, or asymmetry in the appearance of the eyelids.

  • Other potential complications may include dry eyes, chemises, difficulty closing the eyes completely, or changes in eyelid sensation.

  • It's essential for patients to thoroughly discuss these risks and follow all pre- and post-operative instructions to minimize the likelihood of complications and ensure a safe and successful outcome.
