Labiaplasty

Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure that involves reshaping or reducing the size of the labia minora (inner vaginal lips) or labia majora (outer vaginal lips).

Women may choose to undergo labiaplasty for various reasons, including pain, discomfort or irritation caused by enlarged or asymmetrical labia, aesthetic concerns, or to improve confidence and self-esteem.

Labiaplasty can address physical discomfort during activities such as exercise, intercourse, or wearing tight clothing, as well as improve the appearance of the genital area, helping women feel more comfortable and confident in their bodies.

During a labiaplasty procedure

  • We will carefully assess the patient's concerns and anatomy to determine the most appropriate surgical approach.

  • Depending on the patient's goals and the extent of correction needed, different techniques may be used, including trimming excess tissue, reducing the size of the labia minora, or reshaping the labia majora.

  • The surgery is typically performed under local anaesthetic in the clinic and patients return home the same day. It can also be combined with other bigger operations under general anaesthetic.

Recovery from labiaplasty

  • This varies from patient to patient but typically involves swelling due to the special characteristics of the area, bruising and discomfort in the treated area, which can be managed with pain medication and proper post-operative care.
